StepCircle — Privacy Policy

StepCircle is a step-counting app for families. This policy describes exactly what it stores, where, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
What StepCircle collects
- Your account: email address and a display name. A profile photo, height and weight are optional and only used to show your picture and to estimate distance and calories when your phone does not supply them.
- Activity data: a daily total of steps, and where available distance and active calories. StepCircle reads these from Health Connect on Android and from Apple Health on iOS. It reads only; it never writes to either.
- Family data: which family you belong to, its name and invite code, and the goals set for it.
- Achievements and notifications: badges you have earned, and a record of the messages the app has shown you.
- Settings held only on your device: your theme choice and your reminder times. These are never uploaded.
StepCircle stores daily totals, never individual readings or any location. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDK collecting anything.
Why
To show your own steps and statistics, to rank the members of your family against each other, to award badges, and to send you the reminders you switch on. Reminders are generated on your own phone; nothing is pushed from a server.
Health data
Health and fitness data read from Health Connect or Apple Health is used only for the features above. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with any third party. You can withdraw access at any time in Health Connect or Apple Health, and StepCircle will stop reading new data immediately.
Who can see your data
- You, on the devices you sign in on.
- Members of your family group, who can see your display name, your photo, your step totals for the ranking, and the badges you have earned. They cannot see your email address, height or weight.
- Nobody else. Access is enforced by the database itself, not by the app.
Where it is stored
On Supabase, which hosts the database in Mumbai, India (ap-south-1) — chosen for
proximity to the people using the app. Data is encrypted in transit. Your session is held in the
Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain on your own device.
How long
Until you delete it. Steps are kept so your history, streaks and statistics remain correct.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: You → Delete my account. Your profile, steps, achievements, notifications and family membership are deleted immediately and permanently, on every device.
If you cannot open the app, email samapplicationspvtltd@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and it will be done for you within 30 days.
If you are the last member of a family, that family is deleted with you. If you are its last admin but others remain, someone else is made admin so their history is not lost.
You can also leave a family at any time from inside the app, which stops sharing your steps with its members without deleting your account.
Children
StepCircle is not directed at children under 13 and is not intended for their use.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
